Technical foundations

Building capability

That might mean training a staff member to deploy apps to the right year level, helping an ICT contact manage common device swaps, creating clear MDM runbooks, or showing leaders which recurring issues are actually symptoms of a deeper infrastructure or workflow problem.

Some work should stay with specialists. We do not expect teachers or school administrators to redesign networks, pull apart racks, rebuild identity architecture or diagnose complex security issues. The point is to separate the work that genuinely needs deeper technical expertise from the work a school could handle safely with the right guidance.

When that distinction is clear, support becomes faster, calmer and more sustainable.

How we help

Device management and deployment

Managed devices are easier to support when enrolment, apps, restrictions, updates, identity, naming, inventory and user groups are planned properly. We support Apple School Manager, Jamf and other MDM environments, as well as broader device-management workflows across school-owned, parent-funded, shared, staff and loan devices.

Good device management is practical. The right student should receive the right apps. A damaged or lost device should have a clear path. A graduating student should exit cleanly. A new staff member should be ready without manual guesswork.

Helpdesk, onsite support and escalation

Support should be easy for schools to use and clear enough for issues to move quickly. We can help design or provide helpdesk and onsite support models, including intake, priority levels, escalation, repair pathways, communication, reporting and review.

The goal is to get devices back into the hands of students and staff quickly, while also reducing the repeat issues that keep creating tickets in the first place.

Internal ICT capability

Where the school has capable people in place, we help them grow into the work. That can include training, runbooks, supervised practice, MDM workflows, device swaps, app deployment, ticket triage, documentation and decision rules.

This is practical capability building. It saves time, reduces unnecessary dependence, and gives the school more confidence in its own environment.

Platform and workflow support

Schools rarely run on one system alone. We can help with Apple, Jamf, Microsoft, Google, identity, filtering, school databases, portals, web tools, reporting workflows and integrations where they affect learning, administration or support.

When a platform decision is creating complexity, we help the school understand whether to improve the current setup, standardise more clearly, transition to a different model, or document the mixed environment so it can be supported properly.

Frequently asked questions

Are you a managed services provider?

Schools may use that language when they are looking for technical support, but our approach is broader than a conventional MSP model. We provide technical support and ongoing service where needed, while also helping schools build internal capability, documentation and clearer ownership so they are less dependent over time.

Can you provide onsite support?

Yes. We can support recurring onsite service models where they are the right fit. The best model depends on the size of the school, the existing ICT team, the device fleet, the helpdesk load and the kind of work that needs to be done onsite.

Can you help with Jamf, MDM and Apple School Manager?

Yes. Education Advantage supports Jamf, Apple School Manager and other MDM workflows, including enrolment, app deployment, restrictions, updates, inventory, device lifecycle, shared devices, staff devices, student devices and support procedures.

Do you only support Apple environments?

No. Apple is an important part of our work, but schools often need support across Microsoft, Google, Windows, Chrome, identity, Wi-Fi, filtering, databases and mixed environments. We start from the school's reality and recommend the simplest supportable model.

Can you help our staff manage more themselves?

Yes, where that is practical and appropriate. We can train and support internal ICT contacts, leading teachers, administrators or other capable staff to manage repeatable tasks safely. Specialist engineering work should still be handled by people with the right technical depth.

Can you review why we keep having the same issues?

Yes. Recurring problems often point to a deeper pattern in infrastructure, MDM, identity, support workflow, documentation, classroom routines or leadership decisions. We can review the environment, identify the likely causes and recommend the order in which work should happen.

Can you support repairs and device replacement workflows?

Yes. We can help schools design practical pathways for damaged, lost, swapped, loan and replacement devices, including triage, communication, warranty or repair guidance, MDM reassignment, spares and return-to-student workflows.
