Education Advantage working with school staff around a laptop

About EA

This is about why EA is really good

The aim of our leadership work is to guide schools out of uncertainty and toward a viable way forward. This could take the form of an overarching technology strategy or something more targeted: we may review a single program, put together a tender, model a budget, plan a rollout or simply help a community come to terms with a change.

Strategy and roadmap

We put in place the practical plans that allow school leaders to act on their technology ambitions. Our process involves executive interviews, assessing maturity and the current state of play, setting priorities and governance, and looking at risk and dependencies. We factor in everything from implementation sequencing to the measures of success. What we deliver has to be sound enough to last the year, useful for teams to get on with, and unambiguous for decision makers.

Audits and reviews

A school will sometimes want a better sense of what is and is not working in its environment. In those cases we conduct a review and offer some hard-headed recommendations. The scope can be as wide as the entire technology set up or as narrow as device programs, MDM, infrastructure or support workflows. We are not in the business of producing a list of defects; rather we want to give leaders a view of the risks and gaps alongside the strengths and quick wins, and put the necessary work in order.

Budget and lifecycle modelling

For any technology programme to be sustainable it has to make financial sense. Before a major call is made we will test scenarios and help schools grasp the whole-of-life costs and forecast refresh cycles. The comparison of program models might encompass school or parent funded devices, BYOD, shared fleets, staff kit, AppleCare, repairs and disposal, as well as the support load and professional learning.

Device program planning

Given how much of a part they are in school life, device programs require careful definition of purpose, ownership and the mix of hardware. We assist with the procurement path, technical readiness, the support model and communicating with families. It is here that you will see the three strands of our work most clearly – the technical delivery, the learning practice and the direction from leadership have to be in alignment.
